Who's Behind Hinava Media?

Flanegan Bainon
9th March 2020

Allow me to introduce who are the owner of Hinava Media.

I am Flanegan Bainon, lad from Kota Kinabalu City and currently lives in Kuala Lumpur working full-time employee as a Digital Designer for a Healthtech Startup Company.

After spending my 20’s fulfilling what I wanted to do in Tokyo, Japan. Things not working out and I decided to move back to Malaysia and start from zero.

On Daytime, I’m a Digital Designer for a Healthtech Startup. and At Night I will be working as Creative Director for a Fitness/Health Startup Company based in Kota Kinabalu. Basically I work Remotely in Kuala Lumpur. And if I completed my Task, I’ll move to create Hinava Media existence online.

Basically, I work 3 different kind of job.
1 pays the the bill and other 2 hopefully will turn into a long-term growth business.

I have a long-term goal for Hinava Media. But I’m gonna take it slow and release the idea platform one by one instead of doing it all in one go.

I wish I have time to focus more on the Marketing but for now.. I am truly commited to create Awesome Digital Product for the Healthtech Company. Once everything Stable, I wish I can spend more time on Fitness Startup and Hinava Media.

If you have an idea you wish to ideate it into action. I encourage you just do it from Bootstrap journey without spending too much money on it.

Create from humble beginning, learn the mistake and hopefully it will grow blossomy into a beautiful flower.

Why I think “Cool Japan” initiative is a failure

Why I think “Cool Japan” initiative is a failure?

My time as Commercial Photographer in Tokyo and Capture Mizuki Nana and TM Revolution Live Concert

I know Cool Japan initiative is a failure by the Government because when there’s an event or program with a Support by them. You don’t see big artist, creative people who should be there but got selected by the government themselves who they think is cool and will bring back Japan Soft-Power. It’s been a decade or more..

What’s the result? Zero.. The Creative Industry in Japan is flat since I move, lived and worked there in 2012.

It’s already 2020 and I don’t see any big changes. All the high creative tech you see during Brazil Closing Olympic? Already exist… One of the production I used to be part of in late 2012 has been using it in their own small niche market.

Deep down in my heart.. I would like to see Creative Industry in Japan become well-known again but not a reminiscent one.

And I’m a big Fan of Korean Movie since I discovered how good are they back in Australia. I spent good amount of money just to get their DVD in ‘Chinatown’. Most of my DVD Movie Collection are either Koreans latest movie, as for the Japanese film. Mostly in the 80s and 90s.

Thus, I would love to see Sabah Arts, Contemporary Culture and Film to be seen too. The best way is via Digital Online with a platform where it will just focus on it.

There’s where Hinava Media stands. And I decide to establish and register as a Business Entity.

Creative need people support. Creative need crazy and passionate people to make it move.

I want it to be a Unity one. Not just for 华人 or Kadus or Malay/English Speaker or kita-kita bah ni.

I want everyone to involve.
It will takes time and I will do and forget the time. As long it is progress.

I will be back in Kota Kinabalu from 21st until 28th this month.
Would like to meet everyone who want to join this long unstable journey where we finally see a beautiful path flowery road.

My first Business was BAH! Photo: https://bahphotoblog.tumblr.com/
I still believe this one has a lot of Potential if I still continue.
Maybe BAH! Photo already expand from Bespoke Photo Studio services into a huge Photography Business in Kota Kinabalu. I stop because my heart doesn’t belong to it and I am still longing to return to Japan.
And now, with no more feeling of longing to live outside of Malaysia. My vision is clearer and bolder after experience frustration, failure, heart-broken and betrayal.
A lesson I learnt I believe it suddenly changed it to not only see wide perspective but tiny detail perspective on all kind of angle.
Thus, Hinava Media become a legit business with no upfront and start from Bootstrap.
I won’t talk much about the Vision first, instead of complete the whole package and release in 1 go. With the current ever-changing world.
I decided to experiment one by one using an Agile method release certain product I want to try and see how things go.
It’s long term progress. No rush, no milestone and there’s no such thing as the final product.
I’ve completed Hinava Media Website and open for collaboration to Blogger, Writer, Photographer, Film-maker and Musician (especially Borneo region) to showcase your artwork, portfolio and single in Hinava Media.

Think Hinava Media as an Entertainment Online Platform where everyone can see, view and listen to your beautifully made work.
If you believe Borneo Island and South East Asia need a good entertainment platform without influence and decision from the outsiders.
Please share and spread Hinava Media, let’s build this together and make Borneo Island as the soft power of Contemporary Culture and Entertainment in South East Asia.
