Pre-Launch of Bayu TV

Yes, you hear me. I decide to make Bayu TV live on the interwebs.

Welcome to Bayu TV. Although it is just a pre-launching product. Bayu TV will be platform where local creators and production film house finally have a place to showcase some of their work.

Can’t believe the ideation finally become a real one and it took a while for me to create one out.
All by myself, nothing to be proud of, to be honest.

I really wish this product can become a proper platform where it will create an opportunity for everyone in Sabah who are in the creative industry.

Once the prototype is ready. There’s a long way to go because I have to think about marketing, and also how can I get early seed investment to expand this platform further.

As I mentioned in the previous post, my aim is to have 70% of contents from Sabah. Whether it is a Shortfilm, Full Feature Movie, Documentary or even a production house planning to do weekly live show.

Since September, I’ve been joining a few selected pitching competition and also, meet up with a few people who are in the local industry (Movie Production, Music, Events) in KK.

Then 3rd wave of COVID-19 Pandemic comes with no warning and all of the sudden CMCO (Conditional Movement Control Order) is starts again.

Non-Essential Business has to close and every employee has to work from home until further notice.

Most of the business pitch and sharing session suddenly move to Video Call (Zoom or Google Meet). There’s a minor problem when you try to convey your message and certain people you want to show sometimes didn’t switch their camera on. This makes me ponder whether they are interested or not.

I decide to stop every video call & also stop focus on beautifying pitching deck to lure future investors/collaborator.

The month of November is the month for me trying to complete Hinava Media’s first streaming platform under the name of Bayu TV. Hopefully will become Sabah’s Digital TV in a long-term vision.

So far here is the progress:

Front End

Back End

Front End is always my strongest when it comes to ideation. The layout and graphic can be done within 8 hours if I have all the assets ready. Then I’ll spend another hour or 2 to play around with the detail.

The Real Struggle for me is to connect the Back End’s system and integrate with the Front End.

Basically this 2 things able to communicate with no issues at all.

My aim for the Demo / Prototype Version of Desktop to be done before December.

I’m only talking about System of the Platform.

What about the Contents? I’ll think about it later once the system is at least usable and viewable for the users.

This is my idea forecast so far:

The plan may be Pivot or Change depends on the situation. With this idea, at least I have a clear small goal and then beyond that.

365 days / 12 months / 7 days / 24 hours / 5 hours.

Partner or Collaboration with Creator, Production House and Other Independent Network.

When it comes to Partnership Contents with other Creator and Production House.

I’m aiming to fill-in at least 70% of their content into this platform. Because I want to give the opportunity to others where they can earn from Exclusive Revenue.

Every Revenue earns from Ads (Banner or In-Screen), Subscription, Pay per View (PPV). 70% will go back to them. Bayu TV only asks for 30% is to maintain the server bandwidth and improve the system to be more responsive and user friendly.

I believe Paid Online Live Concert, Events and Exclusive Online Movie Premiere will be the norm and it will cut cost a lot for Creator and Event Company to earn more revenue through online. With AR, VR and XR getting improve day by day. Online Experience will be getting more interesting.

1. The first 5 years will be a Freemium Platform with Targeted Running ads to earn at least a small revenue to maintain the platform and a small amount to support the local.

2. On 3rd Year, Paid Subscription based will be implemented once Volume of Quality Content Catalog is in our portfolio.

3. By year 6, Bayu TV will be earning profits. I believe beside creating content, there’s a possibility we will venture out of other media-related stuff too.

Once Profit earns, 30% of the yearly profit will be put into the Community Bank such as Creator’s Scholarship for them to further their studies as Creator (Film-maker, Screen Writer etc), Donation and Micro Grant for Upcoming Creator.

I guess this is also the beginning of my Solopreneur before I start hiring people and create job opportunity for the people of Sabah.

Who's Behind Hinava Media?

Allow me to introduce who are the owner of Hinava Media.

I am Flanegan Bainon, lad from Kota Kinabalu City and currently lives in Kuala Lumpur working full-time employee as a Digital Designer for a Healthtech Startup Company.

After spending my 20’s fulfilling what I wanted to do in Tokyo, Japan. Things not working out and I decided to move back to Malaysia and start from zero.

On Daytime, I’m a Digital Designer for a Healthtech Startup. and At Night I will be working as Creative Director for a Fitness/Health Startup Company based in Kota Kinabalu. Basically I work Remotely in Kuala Lumpur. And if I completed my Task, I’ll move to create Hinava Media existence online.

Basically, I work 3 different kind of job.
1 pays the the bill and other 2 hopefully will turn into a long-term growth business.

I have a long-term goal for Hinava Media. But I’m gonna take it slow and release the idea platform one by one instead of doing it all in one go.

I wish I have time to focus more on the Marketing but for now.. I am truly commited to create Awesome Digital Product for the Healthtech Company. Once everything Stable, I wish I can spend more time on Fitness Startup and Hinava Media.

If you have an idea you wish to ideate it into action. I encourage you just do it from Bootstrap journey without spending too much money on it.

Create from humble beginning, learn the mistake and hopefully it will grow blossomy into a beautiful flower.
